He looked back down at the grave and gave Clarke one last nod. He closed his umbrella and started walking towards the exit. As he was just about to step outside, a woman wearing black walked in. She had raven hair and sad blue eyes. She wore a black scarf around her face and was in a flimsy black dress. In her hands, she carried a bouquet of red roses. Kane followed her with his eyes. He stopped just outside the gate near his car and watched her strut inside the cemetery. She kept walking and walking until finally, she paused just in front of Clarke’s grave.
She looked around the place and rested the bouquet beside the stone. She lingered there for a moment before finally walking away. Even in the distance, Kane could see the tears.
Kane hurriedly jumped in his car and waited. He started the engine just as the woman reached the entryway. She paid him no attention and just kept walking in the opposite direction. Kane never took his eyes off of her as he silently followed her, waiting just until she reached the end of the street before pressing on the gas. Suddenly, she turned on a corner. Kane sped up a bit and hastily took a turn on the same corner.
His heart nearly jumped out of his mouth as two people emerged from the corner. He pressed hard on the breaks, narrowly missing the priest and a boy who looked to be around 13 years old. For a couple of seconds, the two stood there like deer caught in headlights before sighing and shaking their heads.
` The priest just looks at him, smiles, and waves. The golden-haired boy just stared at him, frowning and angry. His innocent eyes just glaring at him from afar. Kane felt his guts clench once more.
